„Rewritten Bible“ v kontexte explicitnej a implicitnej formy interpretácie v judaizme Druhého chrámu

Jozef Tiňo

Studia Theologica 2019, 21(3):1-20 | DOI: 10.5507/sth.2019.0121223

Over the course of the last two decades, scholarly attention has focused more than ever before on the phenomenon of interpretive textual paraphrase operative in the period before the closure of the Jewish canon. A special type of extensive paraphrase in Judaism became known as the "Rewritten Bible". There is an ongoing discussion about the nature and function of these compositions. The present article views the educational aspect as essential for a proper understanding of interpretive activity in general, and thus also for understanding how the "Rewritten Bible" phenomenon is to be viewed within the larger framework of interpretive strategies in Judaism...

Man and Resurrection in the Pauline Perspective

Jiří Dosoudil

Studia Theologica 2019, 21(3):21-44 | DOI: 10.5507/sth.2019.0151201

The contribution explores the faith of the early church in the resurrection and its influence on the Pauline view of man. Examining Paul's understanding of the resurrection concept, it considers the inaugurated eschatology schema and apocalyptic structure of his thought. Paul based all the hope for human life on the story of the risen Jesus. He understands it not only as a way of overcoming death, but it also represents for him a source of hope for a new life. In such a life, man’s relationship with God is brought to its fulfillment, enabling full self‑realization of the human personality. Christ, the new Adam, represents both an ideal...

Klementovo kázání Který boháč bude spasen? jako pramen Zlaté legendy

Clement of Alexandria’s Homily Quis dives salvetur? as a Source of Legenda aurea

Jana Plátová

Studia Theologica 2019, 21(3):45-66 | DOI: 10.5507/sth.2019.0091184

It is well known that the Medieval collection of hagiographies Legenda aurea contains (as part of the hagiography De sancto Iohanne apostolo et evangelista) the story about the apostle John and the second repentance of a young robber which was originally part of Clement‘s homily Quis dives salvetur?. The article reflects possible transmitting of texts between the QDS and Legenda aurea (above all Historia ecclesiastica by Eusebius and ps.‑Abdias' text Virtutes Iohannis), looking for additional shared motifs between these two works, and concludes that the author of Legenda aurea was inspired by Clement in the case of at least two other stories....

Katecheze o moci Kristovy krve v Quodvultdeově promluvě De ultima quarta feria

David Vopřada

Studia Theologica 2019, 21(3):67-81 | DOI: 10.5507/sth.2019.0051189

The sermon De ultima quarta feria, attributed to Quodvultdeus, was pronounced in the last phase of the baptismal preparation in Carthage at the end of the 430s. This paper studies the mystagogical method employed in the catechesis on the power of Christ’s blood in baptism and the Eucharist that makes up part of the sermon. First, the baptismal rites in Carthage in 430s are presented. Second, the questions of its dating and the structure of the sermon are discussed. Third, the mystagogical catechesis on the power of Christ’s blood is presented. This analysis demonstrates that Quodvultdeus stands in the Latin tradition of the patchwork...

František Kunetka

Studia Theologica 2019, 21(3):83-110 | DOI: 10.5507/sth.2019.0111206

The Paschal triduum (sacrum triduum paschale) represents the "culmen totius anni liturgici". The nocturnal liturgy of the Sunday of Resurrection (the Easter Vigil) is the most important liturgical celebration of this whole. This study attempts to point out its conceptual specifics. These are: the night of the vigil for the Lord (1), the night of the history of salvation (2) and the night of three eulogistic prayers (3). In the final part (4), the incentives to the inner structure of this liturgy and to the contemporary practice on how to celebrate it are offered.

Kardinální ctnosti po smrti člověka:Argument o přetrvání ctností optikou Augustina, Petra Lombardského a Tomáše Akvinského

Cardinal Virtues After This Life: Argument about the Remaining of the Virtues according to Augustine, Peter Lombard and Thomas Aquinas

Pavel Kilbergr

Studia Theologica 2019, 21(3):111-125 | DOI: 10.5507/sth.2019.0161417

In the realm of virtue ethics, the question of whether virtues remain after this life is a minor one. The basic text on this issue, written by St Augustine, is followed by Peter Lombard and Beda Venerabilis. These sources deal from the theological perspective with the basic question positively; however, they admit a change in the operations of virtues. Thomas Aquinas elaborates this perspective in philosophical argumentation. This article analyses the importance of the question from Aquinas’s perspective for virtue ethics. Itthen argues for the key role of this topic for the classical concept of virtue since it underlines the key role of infused...

Řeč o Bohu a k Bohu v kontextu feministické teologie osvobození

Talking about God in the Context of Feminist Theology of Liberation

Kateřina Majerová

Studia Theologica 2019, 21(3):127-142 | DOI: 10.5507/sth.2019.0131996

Feminist theology of liberation, which aims to revise traditional theology with regard to the demytisation of the role and position of women, along with an accent on women's experience and spirituality, focuses its attention especially on the construction of Godhead and the ways in which God and God speak. On the background of the deconstruction of the idea of sinful humanity and the transformation of the relationship between man and God to a reciprocal and affectionate relationship, he further delimits the understanding of God as a sovereign, independent ruler and returns it back to the context of creation. The Emancipatory Appeal and Declaration...

Katolíci v politike: Martin Mičura ako poslanec Národného zhromaždenia

Catholics in Politics. Martin Micura as a Deputy of the National Assembly

Peter Zmátlo

Studia Theologica 2019, 21(3):143-176 | DOI: 10.5507/sth.2019.0101431

The article describes the activity of Martin Mičura, chairman of the Czechoslovak People's Party in Slovakia, as a member of the National Assembly in the years 1925–1939. Martin Mičura, as a deputy of a pro‑Czechoslovak party, always tried in his speeches to defend Slovaks in the common Czechoslovak Republic and look for solutions which would enable Slovakia to enjoy similar social conditions to those in the more developed Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia. He was mostly involved in discussions about the budget for the next year and concentrated on questions and problems which, as a lawyer and an expert with practice in self‑governing...

„Zelenanie sa“ katolíckej sociálnej náuky: Humánna ekológia

"Greening" of Catholic Social Teaching: A Human Ecology

Marián Sekerák

Studia Theologica 2019, 21(3):177-197 | DOI: 10.5507/sth.2019.0141913

In recent years, the term "human ecology" has become a shibboleth within the Catholic Social Doctrine (CSD). In magisterial jargon, it describes a broader understanding of ecological issues, as well as a specific approach to environmental protection. In the paper, the meanings of this term from the perspectives of the last three popes (St. John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and Francis) are elucidated. The CSD is committed to such an approach to the environment which is based on the principles of ecological interdependence between terrestrial nature and human societies. Moreover, the CSD strongly emphasizes not only the vertical relationship between nature...
