The Priestly Vow of Obedience and Episcopal Authority

The article discusses the development of the rite of priestly obedience during priestly ordination. In the first part, I focused on the influence of the Roman stipulatio and the Medieval immixtio manuum on the development of this ceremony. In the second part, I described the ceremony of Promissio electi in current and earlier Pontificals and evaluated its theological significance. I proposed a modification of this ceremony that would contribute to greater cooperation in the Church.
