Scotus describes his conception of metaphysics as the transcendental science which subject is the trans-categorial concept of being together with other necessary attributes. This subject makes the philosophical knowing of God possible and constitutes the foundation for Scotus's metaphysics. The article deals with five Greek terms used in the First letter of Peter connected to the idea of being a stranger: paroikos, parepidemos, paroikia, diaspora and Babylon. Three of these terms (parepidemos, paroikia and diaspora) are taken over from the Jewish roots of Christianity, but these roots are decisive for the meaning of all of them. The addressees are characterized as paroikoi kai parepidemoi (strangers and sojourners), their status as paroikia (strangehood) and diaspora. The reflection on the present position of Christians not carrying out any ministerial office is based on an analysis of the historical development of the relationship between clergy and laity. Besides a brief historical overview, the paper includes critical reflection on this issue in the context of the 20th century Roman-Catholic Church. Special attention is given to the role of Catholics who have received an academic education in theology and do not belong to the clergy, yet participate in the Church's life.

The article deals with the history of the third order of St. Francis in the Místek deanery. The Místek deanery was founded on 15th March 1716. In the second half of 19th century the Místek deanery comprised sixteen parishes (Místek, Brušperk, Čeladná, Fryčovice, Frýdlant, Metylovice, Moravská Ostra va, Hrabová, Ostravice, Palkovice, Paskov, Stará Bělá, Stará Ves, Staříč, Vítkovice and Zábřeh). The present study is a probe into the life and work of theologian Oto Mádr (15th February 1917) from the end of World War II till the onset of the Communist era, i.e. the period, in which he wrote his early theological reflections and columns. The first part presents some new data on the life of the theologian. The second part is a bibliography of Mádr's writings during the specified timeframe, based on a detailed heuristic, providing concise, yet unsimplified contents of the texts. The purpose is to offer an insight into the budding reflection of Oto Mádr, as yet omitted in the studies that have been dedicated to him.
