Gregory of Nyssa, influenced by Origen, believed in the idea of universal salvation and the educational character of Divine punishment which cannot be eternal, since the healing and salvation of the sinner is always the goal. The apokatastasis signifies the restoration of all rational creation which will take place at the Resurrection.

The doctrine that God's Incarnation made possible the restoration of God's ima- ge in humans forms the basis of the ascetic teaching of the Greek Christian tradition. It is so also for Gregory of Nyssa in his Life of Moses where he discusses the life of virtue. This stream of thought provides the work with a substantial unity and it emerges in key places: theophany in the burning bush when Moses received the vocation to restore the image of God in him; manna, the miraculous bread from heaven; the theophany on Mount Sinai with the vision of the heavenly tabernacle. The breaking and renewing of the Tables of the Law corresponds with what happened...

The Constitution Dei Verbum concerning the Divine revelation is one of the masterpieces of the Second Vatican Council. Bishops and theologians worked on it over a three year period discussing its important issues. The young theologian Joseph Ratzinger influenced the text even before the Council began as he was asked for a theological cri- tique of the prepared schema. He wrote a commentary on DV shortly after the Council ended. Henri de Lubac wrote a commentary on the first chapter of the Constitution se- veral years later. The article uses these reflections to create a dialogue between these two remarkable figures.

The article discusses the contexts of contemporary theology as new loci theologici, which have become not only the objectabstr but also the starting point for theological reflection. The article first relates the contexts and the text, and then makes mentions of the Latin American context and the "option for the poor". It demonstrates how this "option for the poor" is received in the European context - the paradigm of evangelization by the theologians K. Bopp, N. Mette and S. Knobloch - and by Pope Francis. Additionally, the article discusses globalization as the context of our time and the related question of "Who is my neighbor?" In conclusion,...

In the present collective study the members of the Department of Systematic Theology at the Cyril and Methodius Theological Faculty of Palacky University in Olomouc respond to the encyclical of Pope Francis Laudato si'. First, they point out that the encyclical amounts to a strong defense of the Christian approach to problems of the environment. It consists of a certain completion of Compendium of Social Doctrine of Church where the dignity of all creatures is emphasized. Theo mariological, sacramentological, eschatological and ethical parts of the text are also inspiring in this respect. Most of what the encyclical presents has been for a long period...

The main aim of the paper is to develop one of the basic themes of the encyclical Deus caritas est - the connection between theology and anthropology. It aims at remin- ding us, that according to the encyclical the dynamics of human love can only be fulfilled in the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ. Through an encounter with this love eros is transformed into ectasis, which means going out of oneself in a self‑giving love. Selfless love is realized as an emptying (kenosis) of one's own heart for the other and is fulfilled in the act of loving acceptance. The paper also points out the connection between human love...

The article refers to the request formulated by motu proprio Intima ecclesiae natura, that in every parish some form of parish charity should operate. The logic and content of this request are explained and some support points, which legitimize theologically this regulation, are summarized. To illustrate the actual situation of the Bohemian‑Moravian parishes, some data obtained from quantitative research on charitable activities in the pa- rishes in the Diocese Ostrava‑Opava are presented. The data signals a huge change potential. The regulation carried out by the Olomouc Archbishop in 2015, which defines the connection between professional...

The presented study deals with the concept of Christian Charity within the context of so‑called Caritas‑Theology (Caritaswissenschaft in German) regarding the parable of the Good Samaritan. It is based on article 31 in the encyclical letter Deus caritas est in which Benedict XVI mentions this concept, concerning help to those who need it most, in connection with this parable. The study compares the interpretation of the parable within Caritas‑Theology with his interpretation in the context of biblical exegesis and theology. This makes it possible to point out certain distortions occurring in the interpretation of the parable...
