Gregory of Nyssa, influenced by Origen, believed in the idea of universal salvation and the educational character of Divine punishment which cannot be eternal, since the healing and salvation of the sinner is always the goal. The apokatastasis signifies the restoration of all rational creation which will take place at the Resurrection.

The doctrine that God's Incarnation made possible the restoration of God's ima- ge in humans forms the basis of the ascetic teaching of the Greek Christian tradition. It is so also for Gregory of Nyssa in his Life of Moses where he discusses the life of virtue. This stream of thought provides the work with a substantial unity and it emerges in key places: theophany in the burning bush when Moses received the vocation to restore the image of God in him; manna, the miraculous bread from heaven; the theophany on Mount Sinai with the vision of the heavenly tabernacle. The Constitution Dei Verbum concerning the Divine revelation is one of the masterpieces of the Second Vatican Council. Bishops and theologians worked on it over a three year period discussing its important issues. The young theologian Joseph Ratzinger influenced the text even before the Council began as he was asked for a theological cri- tique of the prepared schema. He wrote a commentary on DV shortly after the Council ended. Henri de Lubac wrote a commentary on the first chapter of the Constitution se- veral years later. The article uses these reflections to create a dialogue between these two remarkable figures.

In the present collective study the members of the Department of Systematic Theology at the Cyril and Methodius Theological Faculty of Palacky University in Olomouc respond to the encyclical of Pope Francis Laudato si'. The main aim of the paper is to develop one of the basic themes of the encyclical Deus caritas est - the connection between theology and anthropology.
