Společenství s Otcem. Výklad podobenství o marnotratném synu (Lk 15,11-32)

Communion with the Father: Interpretation of the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Lk 15:11-32)

Petr Mareček

Studia Theologica 2004, 6(4):1-18698

The article examines the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Lk 15:11-32), which was called "the gospel in the gospel" and has, more than any other Gospel passage, entered into various discussions and presentations of human conduct. The exposition is presented in 6 parts. The first undertakes some major problems regarding textual criticism. In the second part the context of the parable is described. The third part proposes the structure of the text in the parable. The fourth part, which is the most extensive one, presents a detailed explanation of the text of the parable. In the fifth part attention is focused on the question of the tradition and redaction...

Apoštol Pavel opěvuje lásku

The Apostle Paul Extols Love

Ladislav Tichý

Studia Theologica 2004, 6(4):19-30676

The article deals with two Pauline texts: 1 Cor 13 and Rom 8.31-39. The former well-known text is traditionally called the hymn to love (or hymn on love or hymn of love). But this appellation has been recently criticized with good reason. Instead, a number of different literary genres have been proposed for this chapter of 1 Corinthians. However, it seems that a consensus on this question can hardly be reached. The pericope Rom 8.31-39 has been called a 'Hymn to the Love of God Made Manifest through Christ Jesus' by J. A. Fitzmyer. Although the apostle Paul possibly sings the praises of love more strongly in this latter text, the classification as...

Pluralita katolíckych metafyzických koncepcií

Plurality of Catholic Metaphysical Frameworks

Peter Volek

Studia Theologica 2004, 6(4):31-43384

John Paul II's encyclical Fides et ratio recognizes the possibility of the existence of different Catholic metaphysical conceptions. Using the issue of transubstantiation as the central expression of the Catholic faith as an example, the suitability of current systems of analytic metaphysics is examined for their use within Catholic philosophy. Those that enable such a use are labeled as suitable in a broad sense for Catholic theology. Moreover, using the example of a truth of faith concerning the relationship between soul and body, an examination was undertaken which showed that, even within the framework of metaphysical conceptions which are suitable...

Od "anima in corpore" k "anima forma corporis"

From "anima in corpore" to "anima forma corporis"

Tomáš Machula

Studia Theologica 2004, 6(4):44-52749

The article deals with the concept of a human being with respect to its composition from soul and body. The discussion of this topic was very important and fruitful in the 13th century. It was stimulated by Aristotle's writings appearing at that time in Christian Europe. The article focuses on the most important 13th century authors who contributed to that discussion: Albert the Great, Bonaventure, Thomas Aquinas, and Latin averroists. During this discussion of soul and body, there was a shift from a platonic philosophical framework to an Aristotelian one. It also resulted in the Church doctrine of human soul.

O vztahu věřeného, filozofie a teologie

On the Relationships between Belief, Philosophy and Theology

Petr Dvořák

Studia Theologica 2004, 6(4):53-58417

The article deals with the mutual relationships between belief (understood as a set of propositions), philosophy and theology. The role of philosophy in relation to theology is direct, as philosophy offers theology conceptual and methodological tools. It is indirect when philosophy attempts to prove some truths of theology and remove obstacles to faith. Not every philosophy is suitable to play a direct role. Christian philosophy is a philosophy which does not contradict belief, its presuppositions and implications, and is suitable to play a direct role.

Liturgické texty adventu

Advent Liturgical Texts

Pavel Kopeček

Studia Theologica 2004, 6(4):59-69789

The Church's year begins on the first Sunday of Advent, a season consisting of four Sundays. It has now lost its former spurious character of being penitential, but it is still a period of preparation. We look forward to the celebration of Christ's first coming and think also about Christ's second coming at the end of time. "It is thus a season of joyful and spiritual expectation" - "tempus devotae ac iucundae exspectationis" ("Normae universales de anno liturgico et de calendario," in Calendarium Romanum, [Civitas Vaticana]: Typis polyglottis Vaticanis, 1969, n. 39). The weekdays from 17-24 December are more directly oriented to preparation for the...

Církev a její potíže s liberalismem a kapitalismem

Church and Its Problems with Liberalism and Capitalism

Roman Míčka

Studia Theologica 2004, 6(4):70-83510

The article deals with the problem of relationships between those modes. It briefly outlines the historical development of the relationship of papal social teaching and Christian thought to capitalism and liberalism. This relationship is predominantly negative. On the other hand, the article discusses the permanent influence of socialism and Marxism on theology and social thought. The next step is an attempt to clarify the conceptual misunderstanding of the terms liberalism and capitalism. The neoconservative Michael Novak outlines the "Whig tradition" of catholic thinkers - not seeing the contradiction between the catholic concept of moral life and...
